of us

Two of us answer the phone between jobs, so if it rings out we are usually under a bonnet rather than ignoring you. Leave the registration and a number and you get a call back the same working day.

Where we load

Wyvern Way, Alvaston

A lock-up, not a workshop. Ring before turning up or both vans will be out.

The last full service goes out about two hours before closing, because it has to be finished and the car handed back rather than left half done. Short jobs go out later than that.

Out of hours the phone takes a message and it is read first thing. If the car will not start and you need it for work, say so and it moves to the front of the morning.

Have this to hand

  • RegistrationIt tells us the engine, the schedule and which parts to load before we set off.
  • Postcode the car is atHome, work or wherever it stopped. It decides which van comes and when.
  • What it is doing, and whenCold start only, over bumps, under braking. When it happens narrows it faster than what it sounds like.
  • Where it is parkedDriveway, street, multi-storey. Height and space change the plan.
  • Whether it is driveableIf it is not, say so early. That changes the slot and sometimes the whole approach.

None of it is essential to get a rough answer on the phone. It is just the difference between one call and three.

Before you pick up the phone

Can I just turn up at the unit?

Better to ring first. It is a lock-up where the vans load in the morning, not a workshop with somebody sat in it. Most of the day both vans are out and you would find a shut shutter.

Nobody answered. Have I been ignored?

Almost certainly not. We are usually mid-job with oily hands, which is not a moment to pick up a phone. Leave the registration and a number and you will get a call back the same working day.

If the car will not start and you need it tomorrow, say that in the message. It gets read differently.

How do I send you a video of the noise?

Text it to the same number. Start the video before you start the engine, keep the phone still, and if it only happens while driving get a passenger to film rather than doing it yourself.

Ten seconds of the actual noise beats a paragraph trying to spell it.

Do you take card?

Card in the van, bank transfer if you prefer, and nothing at all up front. Payment is on completion once you have seen what was done.

What if I need to move or cancel?

Ring or reply to the confirmation. There is no charge unless a part was specially ordered for your car and cannot go back, and we will have told you at booking if that applied.

Finding the unit

Wyvern Way runs off the A6 at Alvaston, behind the retail park. We are the fourth shutter along, with the amber stripe. Ring before you set off.
