Mobile work goes wrong in predictable ways — weather, access, a part that turns out to be wrong for the engine. These say who carries what when it does, so nobody is arguing about it on a driveway.
Last updated 1 September 2026 · applies to work booked from that date onwards
The price is agreed before we start and nothing gets added without you saying yes. If our work fails, we come back and fix it. If we cannot do the job on your drive, you pay nothing.
These terms apply between Cardwell Mobile Mechanics Ltd, company number 12904417, of Unit 9 Wyvern Way, Alvaston, Derby DE21 6BF, and whoever asks us to work on a vehicle. Booking a job means accepting them.
Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
We quote against a vehicle registration, because the registration tells us the engine and the parts it takes. A figure given without one is an estimate and we will say so.
Quotes hold for fourteen days and include parts, labour and VAT. If the job turns out to need something the quote did not cover, we stop and tell you before carrying on. Nothing is added to an invoice that was not agreed.
A booking is confirmed when you have a date, a time window and a price in writing. Time windows are windows rather than fixed appointments, because a job before yours can overrun and we would rather finish it properly.
You can move or cancel free of charge until parts are ordered for your vehicle. After that, a part that cannot be returned is chargeable at cost, and we will have told you at booking if yours is one.
We may move a job ourselves for weather or a part that arrives wrong. You get a call, not a silence.
Roughly three metres of clear space on the working side of the vehicle, ground level enough to work on safely, and access to the keys.
If we arrive and cannot work safely we will try to find a way round it with you. Where that is not possible and we were not told in advance, we may charge a call-out fee covering the slot.
Some work needs a ramp, a lift or equipment a van cannot carry. Where that applies we say so before travelling wherever possible, and we will point you to somewhere that can do it.
If it only becomes clear once we are with the vehicle, you pay nothing for that visit. We would rather lose an hour than start something we cannot finish safely.
Parts and labour are guaranteed for twelve months. That covers our workmanship and any part we supplied failing in normal use.
It does not cover wear items reaching the end of their life, damage from an impact or misuse, faults in parts you supplied yourself, or work somebody else has carried out afterwards.
Where you supply your own parts we will fit them if it is safe to do so, but we cannot guarantee the part and labour is not covered if the part is the cause.
Private work is due on completion, by card or bank transfer the same day. We do not take payment before the work is done.
Fleet and trade accounts are invoiced monthly on thirty-day terms once agreed in writing. Late payment may carry interest and costs under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998. Parts remain our property until paid for in full.
We hold public liability insurance and we are liable for loss or damage we actually cause. Our liability for any one job is limited to the cost of putting the work right or the value of that job, whichever is the greater.
We are not liable for indirect losses such as lost earnings or hire vehicles, except where the law does not allow that exclusion. Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Please move valuables and anything fragile away from the working area before we arrive.
If something is wrong, ring us. Most of what reaches us as a complaint is sorted inside a week because we would rather fix it than argue about it.
If we cannot resolve it between us, you can take it further through the usual consumer routes. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
